Extend your love by sponsoring a “date tree” to help children getting over their agonies.

With an aim for self-sufficient, fund-raising and contribution to the society, staff and children of Sun Village established an orchard with 30,000 peach-like and winter-date trees. Diligent orchard farming produces abundant yield to cover funding shortages, at the same time training the endurance and perseverance of the children.

Our tree sponsorship program aims to ensure patrons and children can taste the plump and sweet dates, as well as to ascertain a smooth sales process so that the proceeds can be utilized on a timely basis.

 

Description of program:

1. The sponsorship fee is Renmenbi USD $50 for one peach-like date tree. Each tree usually yields around 10 cattie (5kg) of dates (except for force majeure such as wind, hail and pests). Sponsor has to pay at once by mail or in person to Sun Village. Sponsorship can be made throughout the year.
2. A sign with the sponsor's name will be hung on the tree and a proof of sponsorship will also be issued to the sponsor. Sun Village will be responsible for the management of tree planting and growing.
3. Sponsors can visit the orchard any time to learn about the progress of the sponsored trees. They are even welcome to volunteer in tree tending work during weekend or at their leisure.
4. Depending on the maturity of the dates, Sun Village will contact sponsors in mid-September for harvest time. Sponsors can present their proof of sponsorship in exchange for a harvest card for dates picking.
5. If sponsors are unable to harvest the dates in person, Sun Village will harvest the fruit and attempt sending the dates to sponsors if possible.

•  When can we pick the dates?
Usually after September 20 every year, we shall inform the exact date to the sponsors by phone.

•  What shall we bring for the harvest?
Sponsorship receipt is needed.

•  Is there any limit in sponsoring date tree?
There is no limit in terms of sponsoring amount, but the minimum donation should be able for us to plant at least one tree – i.e. USD$ 50.

•  Can we check on the growth progress of the tree?
Yes.

•  Do we need to sponsor annually?
No. But all sponsors are welcome to continue its sponsorship in the following year.

•  What is the documentation required for sponsoring a tree?
No specific documentation is required apart from your contact number so that we can contact you for the harvest.

•  How can we sponsor a date tree?
Cash – You can bring cash to Sun Village for tree sponsorship and visit the children Mail – You can wire money through the post office for tree sponsorship. Please ensure you have provided contact details and number of tree to be sponsored
Bank transfer – You can transfer money into our bank account and call to alert us on the details of sponsorship. Please see below:
