Responsibilities of Various Departments
Administration

Office

  • Assists the daily work of the President and Vice President

  • Establishes regulations and institutions; issues documents and correspondence; arranges regular meetings; greets VIP guests

  • Coordinates and oversees the administration of the other three Children’s Villages

Finance

  • Handles bookkeeping issues

  • Manages monthly Financial Statements and donations

  • Balances revenues and costs; oversees and instructs the finance departments of other Children’s Villages

Maintenance

  • Maintains the environment, infrastructure, canteen, appliances, renovation, security and treasury

Merchandising

  • Oversees merchandising of various supplies

 

Fundraising and Development

Fundraising

  • Coordinates the fundraising activities of the four Children’s Villages

Promotion

  • BBuilds and maintains the Sun Village website; publishes promotional materials, such as newsletters, flyers, leaflets, etc.

  • Represents the organization by attending conferences and exchange visits

  • Liaises with the media for interviews

  • Develops and implements new promotion strategies

Development

  • Oversee the construction of new Children ' s Villages

  • Develop new resources

  • Develop new properties and projects

  • Assist in implementing new properties and projects, such as the source development for supplies centers and promotion of Fundraising Tree Sales

 

Childcare
  • Manage the “ Loving Mama ” Team and education programs

  • Arrange various activities and reception of guests during the weekends

  • Conducts research on children education

 

Properties
  • Operate developed properties and projects

 

Key Staff
Ms. Shuqin ZHANG, 57 years old

Experienced poverty at firsthand during a three year work assignment at a farm in Long County, Shaanxi Province;

Provided medical and caring assistance in Long County, Shaanxi Province;

Developed close relationships with many members of the population in what is one of China’s poorest and least developed areas;

Ten years experience as a policewoman at the Shaanxi Province Prison Bureau, during which time she saw the misery of the convicts’ children on a personal level;

Graduate of the Chinese Literature Professional Writers Class at Northwest University. Created one feature length movie and five television drama series. In 1991, her series “Special Battlefront” was broadcast on the national channel CCTV as well as another 20 local TV stations. Her movie won the “White Crane Award” in 1986, and a further television series won the “Golden Sword Award” in 1993. Shuqin was awarded the “Zhuang Zhongliang Wen Literature Prize” in 1989 and the Xi’an “Hailongwang Cup Female Writer Prize” in 1995; and

Philanthropic advocate who has experience in fund raising. Since May 1996, Shuqin has established six Children’s Villages for the children of convicts. Over the course of the last ten years, she has helped over 800 children between the ages of one to eighteen.
